Who Is Conrad Murray?

Conrad Robert Murray was born February 19, 1953 in St. Andrews, Grenada,where he was raised by his grandparents. He became a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago at the age of 7, when he joined his mother who had left her country for work. His father was conspicuously absent from his life. They did not meet until 1978, when Murray traveled to Houston, Texas and introduced himself.

 

Murray has been married twice. His first marriage was to Zufan Tesfai, a pharmacist now living in New Jersey. The marriage lasted from 1984-1988.  His current wife is Dr. Blanche Yvette Bolick Murray, who he met while they were attending Meharry Medical College.  They share the same business address of 2110 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV. Murray is currently dating Nicole Alverez of Santa Monica, CA, the mother of his 7th child.

In 1980, two years after first visiting Houston and getting a chance to introduce himself to his father, Conrad Murray returned to Texas to enroll at Texas Southern University. Where in just three years he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in pre-medicine and biological sciences. From there, Murray followed in his father's footsteps and attended the primarily African-American Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Upon graduating Meharry Medical College, Murray enrolled for additional training at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and then completed his residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. Other training stints followed; he studied at the University of Arizona on a Cardiology Fellowship, and landed back in California, where he eventually worked as the associate director for the interventional cardiology fellowship-training program at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Records reveal years of financial troubles for Murray.

Murray was sentenced to jail on April 29th, 2009 for failing to pay child support. He was also sentenced in 2007 for non-payment of child support in connection with a son he fathered in California with a woman named Nenita Malibiran. On both occasions, the doctor was able to get out of doing any time by paying up.

A further investigation has proven that Murray has fathered many children outside of his (second) marriage. Court records show that between 1999 to 2007, Murray did not make any child support payments.

Murray's Nevada medical practice, Global Cardiovascular Associates, was slapped with more than $400,000 in court judgments: $228,000 to Citicorp Vendor Finance Inc. in November 2007, $71,000 to an education loan company in June 2008 and $135,000 to a leasing company last September. He faces at least two other pending cases.

Clark County, Nev., court records show Murray was hit last December with a nearly $3,700 judgment for failure to pay child support in a San Diego case, and had his wages garnished the same month for almost $1,500 in a court judgment won by a credit card company. Another credit card claim for more than $1,100 filed in April remains open.

He owes $940 in fines and penalties for driving with an expired license plate and no proof of insurance in 2000.

State medical regulators had no records of any disciplinary actions against him.

Records show Murray had several tax liens filed against him in California and Arizona between 1993 and 2003.

Michael Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray was released on $75,000 bail this week, after he pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of involuntary manslaughter. The physician was arrested for "gross negligence" in relationship to the pop star's death.

Murray, a native of Grenada, was forced to turn in his passport, due to his possibility as a flight risk. He was given a date in April to return to court in order to schedule his preliminary hearing
