Toxicologist: Propofol in MJ's stomach
Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 9:32PM Toxicologist Daniel Anderson testified that forensics showed traces of propofol in Michael Jackson’s stomach. This could help the defense’s argument that Jackson ingested the anesthetic propofol and the sedative lorezapam creating a lethal mixture.
Anderson qualified the amounts of these drugs found in Jackson’s stomach by telling the court that it’s normal to find drug contents in the stomach no matter how it is delivered into the body. He also said the amounts detected were comparable to a couple grains of sugar.
Defense attorney, Michael Flanagan zeroed in on the failure of the state to test the contents of Jackson’s stomach for lorezapam. Flanagan suggested that defense testing showed higher concentrations of lorazepam in the stomach than what was found in the blood. Anderson said because high levels of lorezepam were found in the blood stream, testing for the drug’s presence in the stomach was unnecessary.
